Vic's CES Update #2
Having checked out additional 3D TVs from Samsung and TCL, I am leaning more towards 3D TVs with Shutter Lens vs. 3D TVs without the glasses. The sharpness of the picture takes a noticeable hit when watching a show/movie on the 3D TVs without the glasses, along with my what I said in the podcast previously that you have to be in the sweet spot in order to see 3D (or else it looks like crap).
I’m going to get to check out more tomorrow from Sony, Panasonic, and Toshiba, but it seems like (at least right now) shutter lens are the way to go. After witnessing all the 3D first hand, I am looking forward to upgrading my equipment to 3D this year!
**Update**
Nic: After looking at these 3D Tv’s I too agree that glasses are the current way to go. I will however say that until they find a way to get around the glasses then it’s a total gimmick and not worth anyones time. Playing games however in 3D with glasses seems like a perfectly normal and acceptable thing to do. Nvida has some of the sweetest 3D glasses that can turn current games into 3D.
