Did Verizon Ask President Obama to Intervene in Apple, Android Legal Disputes

Did Verizon Ask President Obama to Intervene in Apple, Android Legal Disputes

Holmen Jenkins of the Wall Street Journal is claiming that Verizon’s top legal beagle, Randal Milch, has personally contacted President Obama regarding the on going Apple/Android patent litigation. Word is that Milch asked Obama to issue an executive order that would prevent banning the import of certain smartphones. The International Trade Commission has the ability to block the import of products and that is exactly what Apple is seeking in their lawsuits against many Android manufacturers. However the President has the authority to override the ITC. Why would Verizon ask Obama to get in the middle of this?

Tim Cook “I want you to be confident that Apple is not going to change”

In an email to fellow Apple employees, Tim Cook reassures them that things at Apple will not change. He also notes that Steve Jobs built a foundation and that he plans on building from that versus changing Apple’s core.

Steve built a company and culture that is unlike any other in the world and we are going to stay true to that—it is in our DNA

Steve Jobs Resigns as CEO of Apple, Replaced by Tim Cook

In a shocking move, Apple has announced that Steve Jobs will be stepping down as CEO and Tim Cook will take his place. Jobs will stay on as Chairman of the Board and has issued this letter to the board of directors and the Apple community;

To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:

I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.

I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.

As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.

I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.

I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.

Steve”

Apple TV Software Update Adding More Uses from iCloud

Apple TV Software Update Adding More Uses from iCloud

Today Apple rolled out an update that has needed features for second generation Apple TV owners. Currently the second generation Apple TV only has the ability to rent TV Shows and movies from Apple to stream. If you want to watch content that you have downloaded and own, you have to stream it in house via your iTunes library.

Now they have changed the format up somewhat, you can now buy your shows instead of rent the TV Shows and you can view all your old purchased shows from the past and play them whenever. We are positive this is courtesy of iCloud and we want to see this option for movies also. This makes the Apple TV 2 fall in line with the first generation Apple TV, being that you could purchase shows and let them sit on the built in hard drive to view whenever.

Also along with the change up they have added the Vimeo streaming service under “Internet” videos now for the users that like to check out that service. Let’s make a list of what Apple needs to add before we go though, Hulu Plus, Amazon Video on Demand, and movies that you own to be streamed from iCloud, along with rented. We are very aware that all this lumped together is kind of a dream, but hey let us dream.

Random Thoughts from the Angry Guru

Random Thoughts from the Angry Guru

I’m posting this because Nic IS WAY TOO LAZY.

You know. If Apple just built it’s products here in the United States then maybe they’d have less cash ($76 Billion) but we’d have more people employed and doing real jobs. Granted it might cost a bit more, but no one else is making stuff here so I’d be more inclined to pay that ‘Apple Tax’ when I know it’s putting food on the tables of a blue collar american.
