Google+ Gets What’s Hot, Ripples, and Creative Kit

Google Plus have been growing since it’s release, and more and more people are using it. What that means for Google is, they are constantly working on new features. Today, they announced 3 new features and to start it off is, What’s Hot. This allows users to see the most popular topics going on in Google+. What is going on in the world, popular photos, or even celebrities post. We are kind of relating this to Twitter trending topics, somewhat.

Next is Ripples, it is a tool that allows you to dissect a post and see how all the comments unfolded. It helps you relive a post, and learn how post grow in action on Google+. Also, there is Creative Kit. This utility allows you to edit your photos simply. The option to add effects to the picture or just sharpen one up with the editor, is now available.

Last but not least, Google has known everyone has wanted to do this, and has added the ability to add a Google Apps customer account to Google+. This will be a good transition to allow businesses and websites to use the service. Overall, these are all good additions and it is nice to see Google working hard to keep their social network fresh and evolving.

HP Not Spinning of PC Division aka Personal Systems Group

First Netflix, now HP, these damn companies can’t make up there mind when it comes to spin offs. That was until today, when HP announced that they intend to keep their Personal Systems Group. PSG consists of both webOS and PCs, although nothing was said specifically about webOS, we’re assuming it’s still dead. That is unless HP pulled their head out of their ass and saw how popular a low cost tablet with webOS actually is. Or will they go with Windows 8? I don’t know, I just don’t know!!

HP objectively evaluated the strategic, financial and operational impact of spinning off PSG. It’s clear after our analysis that keeping PSG within HP is right for customers and partners, right for shareholders, and right for employees,” said Meg Whitman, HP president and chief executive officer. “HP is committed to PSG, and together we are stronger.”

Nokia Lumia 800, Flagship Windows Phone Device

The tech industry has been waiting for the official announcement of a Nokia Windows Phone device, ever since Microsoft announced they would be pairing with them. That day has officially come today. The Nokia Lumia 800 is the flagship device, out of the phones announced, so let’s go over some of the specs.

Before we get into the exact specs, over-all the device looks almost identical to the Nokia N9. With that said, it is a 16GB phone that has a single core 1.4GHz processor. Up front, it has a 3.7 (800X480) AMOLED display and comes in 3 colors black, cyan or magenta. Around back, the 8MP camera has the famous Carl Zeiss optics, and is capable of taking 720P video at 30 frames per second.

Nokia has added some specific apps like Nokia Drive (that is their own turn-by-turn GPS), ESPN Sports Hub, and Nokia Music. Lumia is a quad-band GSM device capable of 14.4Mbps HSDPA speeds and keeping it alive is a 1450mAh battery. The Lumia 800 is an intriguing device and we are very excited to see it. The bad news is, we are not hearing any talk about a US release at the moment. What do you think, you think this device is good enough to compete with the top devices in today’s market? We think so, but only time will tell that.
