Androidify Yourself with this Android Avatar Creator

Androidify Yourself with this Android Avatar Creator

Google just released a neat little app called Androidify. It lets you customize an avatar based on Google’s Android mascott. You can add clothes, glasses, facial hair, or even a Karate gi!

“Get ready to make Android your own.
Androidify yourself by customizing the little green Android as yourself, your family, your friends, anyone! Stretch it , shrink it, add a hoody, style its hair, throw on some shades, or even give it a parrot and a pirate hat. Arrrgh!
Once you’ve personalized your Android, share it with your friends, set it as a photo in your contact book, or use it in some inventive way we haven’t thought of yet. Have fun, and we can’t wait to see what you come up with!
Developed together by Google Creative Lab and Larva Labs.”

AppBrain OTA App Installs Make a Return!

AppBrain OTA App Installs Make a Return!

AppBrain.com is the best place on the web to go for search, syncing, sharing and manage apps for you Android device. A few weeks ago, Google updated the market and blocked the ability for ApBrain.com to install apps OTA. That functionality is back!! The big differences between this market and the Android Webstore is Appbrain.com can only install free apps OTA, but you can also uninstall apps via the web. You need to install the Fast Web Installer app from the market before you can take part in the OTA fun. It’s only a click away though.

Guru Inspection: Dialer One for Android

Guru Inspection: Dialer One for Android

Dialer One is a a dialer app replacement with many nice extras. For us vanilla Android users, we are missing the T9 style dialing that comes stock in Sense UI. I find it much quicker to type a few digits to find a contact rather than using the search function and spell out their name. The other really nice feature of Dialer One is its level of customization. You can choose between two themes or use your own wallpaper as the background. I have found it even works with live wallpapers and looks really cool. Dialing is super fast and you can have both vibrate and sound feedback if you would like. This app has quickly replaced the stock dialer on my Nexus One.
