Apple TV Software Update Adding More Uses from iCloud

Apple TV Software Update Adding More Uses from iCloud

Today Apple rolled out an update that has needed features for second generation Apple TV owners. Currently the second generation Apple TV only has the ability to rent TV Shows and movies from Apple to stream. If you want to watch content that you have downloaded and own, you have to stream it in house via your iTunes library.

Now they have changed the format up somewhat, you can now buy your shows instead of rent the TV Shows and you can view all your old purchased shows from the past and play them whenever. We are positive this is courtesy of iCloud and we want to see this option for movies also. This makes the Apple TV 2 fall in line with the first generation Apple TV, being that you could purchase shows and let them sit on the built in hard drive to view whenever.

Also along with the change up they have added the Vimeo streaming service under “Internet” videos now for the users that like to check out that service. Let’s make a list of what Apple needs to add before we go though, Hulu Plus, Amazon Video on Demand, and movies that you own to be streamed from iCloud, along with rented. We are very aware that all this lumped together is kind of a dream, but hey let us dream.

Apple releases Apple TV 3.0.2

For those of you who have an Apple TV, it’s been a pretty bumpy ride as far as updates go. Apple has released a small update that helps with HDMI issues caused by the last update, as well as adding some magic for photos and Aperture 3.0. I’m downloading my update as we speak.
