Google and Motorola Teaming Up to Take Over?

Google and Motorola Teaming Up to Take Over?

Google and Motorola have been working together for a while now with Android and now this morning Google has announced that is has agreed, and is in plans to purchase Motorola Mobility. The purchase price is said to be for $40 per share and that evens out to around 12.5 billion dollars.

The deal has approval from both companies and has to go through the normal regulatory approval process first, but should be final at the end of this year or the first part of 2012. Motorola will remain named Motorola and ran as a separate company, however we can only imagine how closely their phones will be integrated with the “stock” pure Google experience.

As for the Nexus devices, Larry Page and Andy Rubin say that every year they select a manufacturer and work closely in one building together within 9 to 12 months to come up with these pure Google devices. They have reassured to all the other partners and manufactures that nothing will change. They plan to carry on like usual and select a company (possibly Motorola) to build their Nexus device.

Also, they tell all the manufactures that Android will remain an open platform and they can continue using the operating system just as usual. This is the reason they have been able to succeed with Android so much, so they want to keep that in place.

However, with Google owning Motorola, we cannot imagine how you wouldn’t want the Motorola devices being that they are owned and ran by Google. One would think that these will have the best Android experience being that they are working in conjunction with each other. Only time will tell how this all pans out, but to us it looks like Google is aiming for the same thing that Apple has and Microsoft wants with Nokia, control over the hardware and software. We shall see as time unfolds, what do you think Google’s plans are for Motorola?

Google+ Games and Apps are Coming

Google+ Games and Apps are Coming

Are we ready for full on Facebook competition from Google? Ready or not, Google has announced today that they have signed deals with “select partners” for games to be added into Google+. There will be several available like Angry Birds, Bejeweled Blitz, Sudoku, Diamond Dash, and more games that you are used to seeing others play on Facebook.

They have an interesting approach though, Google will allow you to opt in and play all of your games and see the game post in their own separate stream, keeping the regular stream the same. This is great because, if you are a big time gamer and love these games or hate them with a passion, it should not affect your experience in the social network.

HTC Bootloaders will be Unlocked Manually not Brand New

HTC Bootloaders will be Unlocked Manually not Brand New

When HTC said they would allow unlocked bootloaders, all the die hard Android users and hackers screamed “YAY”! Since then, a lot of users have wondered how that was going to happen and what was going to be the process. Were the phones going to come brand new with unlocked bootloaders? Here is the skinny on how it is going to be achieved.

The phones will not ship with an unlocked bootloader, HTC will provide a web-based tool that will enable users to unlock the bootloader on their device. Devices will get an update that will allow the web-based software to do the unlocking, then you will have to set up an account that will of course ask you some questions like “You know your device could brick and it’s not our fault right”?

Currently the HTC Sensation and the EVO 3D are waiting for the update to their devices that will allow the web-based tool to work and then, we are sure many more will follow. So in the mean time, keep patiently waiting if you are needed that bootloader unlocked, it will be sooner than you think.
