Google+ Adding more Features to Combat Twitter

Google+ Adding more Features to Combat Twitter

Twitter has been famous for the use of #hashtags and Google has announced that they are adding hashtag support into Google+, with real-time search support. Now, to use hashtags you can put the # sign in front of any text and it will show up as a clickable link that will bring up a variety of search options. You can filter your search to everything, people or even just Google+ and the search results will come up in real time.

As for searching for hashtags outright, it pulls up everytime it finds the text in any posts. It isn’t the greatest way to search for a hashtag but we are sure that Google has some room to improve on this newly launched feature. It is good to see that Google is pushing forward with their social network and trying to add features that people are requesting.

Nexus Prime Announcement Date Postponed

Nexus Prime Announcement Date Postponed

The Nexus Prime is Google’s next main device and next week on October 11th was supposed to be the date that the phone was announced, along with details about Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0. Now, Google has announced that they have postponed the announcement until a later date.

Google said that this just isn’t a good time for an announcement and that the recent passing of Steve Jobs has everything to do with it. This is very thoughtful and respectful on Google’s part but we have to wonder if the situation was opposite, if Steve would have pushed one of their events back. Either way, Steve Jobs funeral and death is a big deal and hopefully they will not make all the anxious fans wait too much longer. Rumor is the event might take place on October 27th, which is not to far away.

Nexus Prime Announcement getting Closer, now with Spec Leaks

Nexus Prime Announcement getting Closer, now with Spec Leaks

Every one is patiently awaiting the Nexus Prime, or wait maybe they are just waiting, either way we got some pretty good details about the official specs of the phone today. A source that BGR “knows” apparently gave them the scoop on the device.

Starting with Ice Cream Sandwich pre-loaded you have a 9mm thin Samsung device, with a 4.65-inch 1280 x 720-pixel Super AMOLED HD with curved glass. Yes you heard that correct, a 720p screen. Powering the phone will be a Dual-Core TI-OMAP around 1.2-1.5 GHz, 1GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, 5MP camera on back, 1.3 MP camera up front, 1080p video capture and a NFC chip on back for your Google Wallet. Verizon Wireless exclusivity has been all the talk also.

This device looks like it has the killer spec list and this lines up with all we have been hearing, so now we just have a few more days to see if this is all true and what the full device looks like. Hopefully Ice Cream Sandwich will be the update that everyone has been hyping up and talking about. It would be nice if one company could actually step up to the hype.

Google not to Favor Motorola, Says Schmidt

Google not to Favor Motorola, Says Schmidt

In a recent interview, Eric Schmidt was quizzed about Google acquiring Motorola Mobility and what kind of affect that would have on Google’s openness with Android. Schmidt assured that the ecosystem is their number one priority and they will not do anything with Motorola, or anyone else that would screw up the dynamics of the industry.

He goes on to say that, they will not play favorites to any company like a lot of the analyst are concerned about. This is good to hear from Schmidt, but we are not totally sure we believe him. Google might be able to keep up with the way things have been working for a while but it is hard to believe that nothing will not change down the road to be partial to Motorola. Only time will tell, at least it sounds like they have good intentions.
