T-Mobile Announces myTouch 4G Slide, Available in July for $199

T-Mobile has officially announced their latest myTouch device, the Slide 4G. This landscape QWERTY slider sports a 3.7 ” WVGA screen, 1.2ghz dual core processor, Android 2.3 and Sense 3.0. T-Mobile is really pumping up the camera on the Slide 4G, calling it the most advanced camera in a smartphone. It’s a an 8 megapixel with dual led flash and “advanced digital camera features”. One thing interesting to note, is that Netflix support is explicitly mentioned in the press release for this device as well as the usual T-mobile TV and YouTube.  The myTouch Slide 4G will be available in two different colors, black and khaki and will hit all the usual channels sometime in July for $199. (whats up with Tmo and these vague release dates lately?) Hit the jump for the full press release.

HTC Announces OpenSense Developer SDK

Sense is much more than just a skin for HTC, it has developed into it’s own platform. HTC is looking toward developers to take Sense to the next level by opening up an SDK (software development kit) for devs to create apps and plugins within the Sense framework. Think about the Picasa or Flickr plugins for the gallery or the skins that easily change the entire look of your device. Now think of what developers can do with, hopefully, open access to a bunch of APIs and the framework of Sense. HTC has opened up the developer portal and is requesting formation, but they have not released the SDK yet. I am really looking forward to what devs come up with.

OpenSense SDK. It’s just the beginning. The HTC OpenSense SDK will allow developers to harness software and hardware innovations on HTC phones to develop more deeply integrated mobile apps and experiences. Altogether, you’ll have access to documentation, sample code, APIs and more importantly, the support and inspiration of the HTCdev community.

T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide Shows Up on Camera

The gang over at BGR received some spy shots of the upcoming QWERTY slider from T-Mobile. From the pictures you can clearly see that it will run Sense 3.0 and the latest (for now) version of Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread. Word is that the myTouch 4g slide will sport an 8 megapixel camera and have keys that feel like the T-Mobile G2. Between this and the upcoming Sensation, T-Mobile is looking to have a strong Android lineup for the summer!
